Q: Who is It Takes a Village NJ?
A:

The organization was started in April 2011 with a group of Moorestown neighbors.  As time went by, we added adjacent areas as follows:  Cinnaminson, Delran, Hainesport, Maple Shade, Moorestown, and Mount Laurel.   In the USA, there are over 200 Villages.  We hope one day there will be villages all over New Jersey!

Q: How much time should I commit?
A:

If you can commit a few hours a week we can find someone who needs your help by paring you with someone who can benefit from the time and talents you have to offer.

Q: What is the first step?
A:

The first step is to get in touch with us by calling. After that new volunteers should attend an hour long training session in Moorestown, NJ with our social worker Chris Dvorak to become familiar with the organization and get paired up with someone you can assist.

Q: What are some common ways to help?
A:
  • Going for groceries, running errands
  • Visiting, calling, listening, or reading to the visually impaired
  • Giving caretakers a break
  • Driving clients to local doctors, libraries, stores, and appointments
  • Library book exchange
  • Providing companionship
Q: My budget is tight, what does it cost to join?
A:

We ask our volunteers to support the organization with a $30 per year membership fee to cover our only expenses, office supplies and insurance costs. We are completely volunteer supported with little overhead. Please send memberships check or money order payable to:
